Thank God for My Family

Thank You, Father God, for the many blessings You have poured into our lives. Thank you for my precious wife and our children. These are gifts we did not earn, yet You placed them in our care. We ask that each one would come to know and appreciate the full measure of Your love, not just in good times, but in the hard seasons too.

Lord, there were moments when You carried them when they were too weak to stand on their own. There were times when you stayed close, watching patiently as they faced big decisions, hoping they would choose the right path. You are a God who gives us choices, but You never abandon us while we’re making them. As Your Word says, “The LORD is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth” (Psalm 145:18).

You desire our praise and our obedience, not because You need it, but because we need You. We ask for Your guidance through the truth of Your Word, that it would light our way and keep us walking the straight and narrow in a world that often pushes us off course. This world can wear us down, discourage us, and test our good intentions, but You never give up on us. “Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ” (Philippians 1:6). Amen.

Leading Our Families in a Troubled World

In today’s world, families face all kinds of challenges. Some just scrape by, doing the best they can. Others seem to rise above the struggle. People ask why. Is it luck? Is it hard work? Is it just the way things fall? Some might say faith isn’t necessary, that you can make it on your own.

But the truth is, without God in our lives, we’re like our ancestors were when they were stuck in Egypt, working hard, worn down, and hoping something would change. And change did come, but not by accident. God raised up a man who knew both the mountaintop and the valley. Moses was a man who listened to God and obeyed Him, and through that obedience, God led His people out of bondage. “And the LORD said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people… and I am come down to deliver them” (Exodus 3:7–8).

As parents and leaders in our homes, we are called to lead, too. Our families depend on us. Our children follow in our footsteps, whether we realize it or not. Our spouses stand beside us as partners and supporters. But above all, the foundation of our lives must be Jesus Christ.

Jesus came into this world as a man who understood responsibility, sacrifice, and obedience. He lived among us, worked with His hands, and carried the weight of the world on His shoulders. He is the Savior of our souls. “For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost” (Luke 19:10).

If we want our families to stand strong, we must show them the way, not just with words, but by how we live. Walking with Jesus gives us wisdom for everyday decisions, strength when life gets heavy, and discernment when the path isn’t clear. “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths” (Proverbs 3:5–6).

When we lead our families with faith, humility, and obedience to God, we leave behind more than memories; we leave a legacy. And that legacy points them not to us, but to Christ.
